Resilience and Mitigation
Through our work, Louisiana stands at the forefront of state investments to create more resilient communities. Our resilience and mitigation programs fund innovative risk reduction projects, tools, data and resources, primarily through CDBG-MIT grants. Our goal is to improve flood management statewide through a data-driven, watershed-based approach that maximizes the natural functions of the floodplains.
Our Impact by the Numbers

Watershed Models and Data
The state invested CDBG-MIT funds to develop hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) models of Louisiana’s major watersheds in partnership with federal, local and regional partners.
Resources and Education
The state has developed and gathered essential resources including:
- Project funding and development resources
- Flood risk maps, data and resources
- Regional watershed management resources
Watershed Regions
Through LWI, the state created nine provisional watershed regions and steering committees to coordinate flood risk reduction efforts among parishes and distribute project funds.
