LWI Buyouts

As part of the Louisiana Watershed Initiative’s efforts to reduce flood risks, our facilitated voluntary property buyout programs in flood-prone areas across the state. The LWI buyout programs, designed to primarily benefit low- to moderate-income residents, offers an incentive—payment above fair market value—to eligible applicants to relocate to areas of lower flood risk.

Projects

Lake Charles – Greinwich Terrace Buyout Program

The state is funding a voluntary buyout program in the Greinwich Terrace neighborhood of Lake Charles. City and parish leaders prioritized the neighborhood for buyouts because it flooded multiple times in recent years.

 

Vermilion Parish – Victoria Acres Buyout Program

The state is funding a voluntary buyout program in the Victoria Acres neighborhood. It's located between Abbeville and Maurice in Vermilion Parish.

 

Denham Springs – Spring Park Buyout Program

The state is funding a voluntary buyout program in Denham Springs.

 

Scott

The state is funding a voluntary buyout program in Scott. City officials selected the neighborhood pictured in the map on the left for the buyout program.

 

West Monroe

The state is funding a voluntary buyout program in West Monroe.

 

Washington Parish

The state is funding a voluntary buyout program in Washington Parish.

 

St. Tammany Parish

The state is funding a voluntary buyout program in St. Tammany Parish.
